Google Cracks Down on Lazy AI-Generated Content
Last week Google announced what is essentially a crackdown on lazy SEO / content creation practices: automated or AI-generated content may now earn Google’s Lowest rating.
Google is directing its quality raters to watch out for pages with content mainly created using automated or generative AI tools – and rate them as lowest quality.
What does this mean for B2B SEO and content creation?
Well, in the same way that Google has cracked down on other dodgy SEO practices (like link farming, keyword stuffing or cloaking), it’s now prepared to penalise anyone who uses AI to generate content, without attempting to add value, personalise, or make the content unique in some way.
